Samsung could finally equip this Galaxy A mid-ranger with a more capable selfie camera

Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch the Galaxy A27, which is expected to come equipped with a noteworthy upgrade: a 12MP selfie camera capable of recording in 4K. This enhancement aims to bring the mid-range device on par with the recently launched Galaxy A37.

As we move further into the year, Samsung has already made significant strides with its non-flagship smartphone releases. Following the Galaxy A07 and A17 from the previous year, the brand has recently unveiled the Galaxy A37 and A57. The Galaxy A27 is now poised to fill the last remaining gap in their lineup.

Recent leaks from a Dutch technology site suggest that the Galaxy A27 will feature a 12MP selfie camera, a slight downgrade from the 13MP sensor found in the Galaxy A26. However, this new sensor is designed to capture more light, which could significantly improve sharpness in low-light conditions, making selfies look better than ever. There is speculation about whether this camera will be the same as the one found in the Galaxy A37 or if it will be a more cost-effective alternative. Additionally, rumors indicate that this new sensor might support 4K video recording at 30fps.

On the back of the device, the camera setup is likely to remain unchanged, featuring a 50MP primary camera alongside an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. A third rear camera, presumably a macro lens, is expected to have a resolution of 2MP, maintaining a similar configuration to its predecessor.

The Galaxy A27 has also appeared on Geekbench, a popular device benchmarking platform, which has revealed some of its internal specifications. Unlike the Galaxy A37 and A57, which utilize Samsung's Exynos chipsets, the Galaxy A27 is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. This chipset was also a part of the Galaxy A36 from last year, and its integration into the A27 could enhance performance due to its advanced 4nm manufacturing process and improved CPU frequencies.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Galaxy A27 is expected to feature 6GB of RAM. However, it may also come in different variants, as last year's model offered options for 4GB and 8GB of RAM. While there were hopes that Samsung would elevate the minimum RAM to 6GB this year, the ongoing global RAM shortage might impact such decisions.

It is crucial to approach Geekbench listings with caution, as they can be easily manipulated and may not always reflect the true specifications of the device. While there is optimism that the information is accurate, it is essential to remain skeptical until official announcements are made.

As for the launch date and additional specifications of the Galaxy A27, details remain sparse. One potential improvement that many users hope for is a transition from the current waterfall display to a more modern hole-punch camera design, which would provide a sleeker and more premium appearance. Whether Samsung will heed this suggestion remains to be seen.

In terms of pricing, the Galaxy A27 is likely to follow the trend set by the A37 and A57, which experienced price increases due to the ongoing shortages of RAM and storage components. The anticipated price point for the Galaxy A27 may start above the $300 mark established by last year's model.
