West Ham player ratings vs Burnley: Michail Antonio back with a bang as Said Benrahma shines

post-title

West Ham got back to winning ways to keep the pressure on Chelsea in the race for the top four after coming from behind to beat Burnley.

Without Mark Noble or Declan Rice in the squad, Moyes sent out a very attacking side - but they struggled to get going at Turf Moor and fell behind after a rather comical penalty.

Issa Diop was caught under the ball - a theme for the evening - and Chris Wood pounced before being brought down by Tomas Soucek. The Burnley striker stepped up and converted the spot kick, which sparked the Hammers into life.

Just 154 seconds later they had responded through Michail Antonio, heading a fine cross from Vladimir Coufal back across Nick Pope and in.

West Ham had clicked now and were playing with verve, Said Benrahma causing untold problems down the left having been handed a chance ahead of Jarrod Bowen. The Algerian provided the assists for the second with a devilish whipped ball to the far post, Antonio just needing to skim the ball with his toe for a second on his return from injury.

Everything you need to know about the BOSS x Russell Athletic collab
The Hammers kept the pressure on in the second half and should have put the game to bed completely with Antonio passing up two golden chances to complete a hat-trick.

Here is how Jack Rosser rated the Hammers at Turf Moor...

Lukasz Fabianski 6

Made a fine second half save from Josh Brownhill. Could do nothing about the penalty, which was a fantastic hit from Wood.

Vladmir Coufal 7

Delivered a superb cross for Antonio’s leveller and posed a threat down the right hand side throughout with some fine balls in.

Craig Dawson 7

Dealt with Wood and Vydra well throughout and showed composure under pressure at times.

Issa Diop 5

Could have caused far more damage here. Caught under the ball far too often and it was Diop being undone by Wood which caused the penalty.

Aaron Cresswell 6

The full-back’s return was another huge boost for Moyes. Solid showing from the captain on the night.

Tomas Soucek 7

Had to cover even more ground than usual as the only real central midfielder in the side.

Manuel Lanzini 8

Excelled in a deeper midfield role alongside Soucek, kept the intensity high and dictated the game.

Pablo Fornals 7

Full of energy and running as usual and drove through in the break a number of times.

Jesse Lingard 7

No goal or assist but as lively as ever from Lingard, who played his role further back in the build up to both goals.

Said Benrahma 7

One of his best performances for West Ham. Laid on a fantastic assist for Antonio’s second. His performance was made even more remarkable by the fact he has been observing Ramadan.

Michail Antonio 8

A fantastic return to the side for Antonio. Took his two goals well, proving the value of having someone with a deeper understanding of the position leading the line. Fluffed a couple of second-half chances.
